First Post!

I work at a quaint little Starbucks store, in a once "small town" - that like most places is now starting to boom. I found on a forum a link to barista brat reading the blog I found myself intrigued. She's quite inspiring.

I'm going to try to update this with each shift that I work, with things that I can't stand, things that I love, things that you should know, and things that you think WE should know.

I worked yesterday, after working late Tuesday night in preperations for the visit that we recieved yesterday from our District Manager, and our Regional Manager. Now, no lie, before this visit the store was crazy. We were walking - wait, running - around with Swiffers and blue sprays and white towels. We went overboard, but the store looked excellent. Things went well with the visit, as just a barista I don't know much about the details until we play Starbucks telephone and Store Manager (SM) will tell Assistant Store Manager (ASM) and Shift Supervisor (SS) Over hears and then finally Barista finds out and the whole world knows. All stores work that way.

As a store we changed our hours, instead of opening at 5 am everyday and closing at 10 pm Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, we open an hour late, and close an hour early - every day. Which is amazing. Which made tips go up, which is even MORE amazing. So baristas are GENERALLY more happy at my store.

I have off for four days, but I work on Monday so look for a post on Monday!
